a splash of orange joy for a good start

I think I owe a big "thank you" to Sarah, an amazing and talented lady, who somehow managed to convince me to start two things that I have never expected to do before.

First one being the art of art journaling. Last weekend I went along to a class Art Journaling 1 at the Stamp Attic in Wantage. I am not ready to show any of my pages yet. Maybe by the time of Art Journaling 2, which is in May, I will pluck up the courage to post something ;-).

The second thing is this blog. I have never had one before, especially a crafty one, and I am not really used to writing about the things I create…

I spent ages thinking what to post first. I then remembered that Sarah mentioned something about Play Date Café during the workshop last Saturday. I’ve had a quick peek and I found this. The Play Date Café Challenge PDCC25, a 'Colour Splash' which is simply black & white with a 'little bit' of colour.

And this week's colour is orange.

When I started working on my card I intended to keep the orange element just to a minimum, to stick with the “little bit” formula. But as I went along, I was loving the contrast and the “joyful harmony” in one between black and orange and I might have got a bit carried away! My creation is below:

As the background has quite a lot going on with the stamping, masking and distressing, I wanted to keep the main flower plain and simple.

And I like the tiny sparkly butterfly right next to this big flower ;-)

So here it is. My first post and my first PDCC. Phew!
