Just a quick and hopefully fairly short post (but we’ll see how we/I go before the end of the post…lol) about two projects I’ve made recently inspired by the August issue of the Craft Stamper. With this issue there was a free digital vintage image (on the web) which I absolutely adore and a really lovely flower stamp.
First, a card lift of the wonderful DT design with the free stamp by Katy Fox. I fell in love with this card the moment I saw it and I knew I had to try to make one myself. Absolutely fabulous design, don’t you think? ;-) For details on how to make it please have a look in the August issue ;).
************************************************
Now, following my fascination with that vintage image, here’s another project I wanted to share with you...
The colours have been inspired by this week’s PDCC #39 challenge with their inspirational trip to Dublin…
I hope the close up pictures show it a bit better, but the frame has been generously treated with fabulous Viva Decor texture pastes (Terra, Ferro and metal colours). In some places I stamped various images onto the paste and in some I just used a heat gun to get some bubbles for added texture. I also added a few tiny accents with Viva Decor Precious Metal, I think Pistachio was the colour, for that extra “zinc” as Sarah says. I started working on that frame during my last workshop at the Stamp Attic (textured book covers) which I still need to tell you all about! But that’s some other time ;).
The background for my project was made using TH’s emboss/resist technique where you first stamp and emboss an image and then colour using distress inks. The stamped image resists the inks and creates some fab results! Then I added a few more stamps for a collage effect and I was ready to move onto my embellies ;).
The keys are Maya Road and they have been embossed with a copper embossing powder for a bit of a rusty feel. The letters – well, you know about my scrabble letters addiction already! ;) This time I used some distress inks to the edges, a trick I “borrowed” from Lou, who I met during my last workshop at the Stamp Attic.
But I was still missing something…. I just needed that something extra to “lift my creation” off the ground (as it’s meant to be a hanging piece) and then I saw this photo on Moxie Fab World and I instantly knew what I needed!
I needed something that would be “dancing” and reflecting the light in lovely browny, ambery shades. So I used some dangly ribbon with lovely beads that I recently got from Dunelm Mill and my piece was ALMOST finished…
Almost, because I’ve hidden a small surprise in it….;-)

Then I added a slightly altered TH ornate plate (distressed with some black Stazon) and sand paper and also attached a home made/layered flower created with the Craft Stamper free stamp.

I am soooooo loving these stamps, mostly because I got them for free! The picture frame stamp I got as a free gift for having my LO published in the Scrapbook Magazine and the vintage metal Second Post stamp was thrown in for free when I did some wooping purchases for a fiver at a flea market ;-).
I am usually quite critical about my crafty work but I am absolutely delighted with the way it turned out. I hope you like it too and that you’ve managed to last till the end of this not-so-short-in-the-end post! lol ;-)
Hugs to everyone!
