The voice of the sea - Sentimental Sundays #43

Re-edited: Yeeepie!!! My card has been chosen the Top 3 at Sir Stampalot Challenge Feb 2011! ;)))

This week at Sentimental Sundays we have a photo inspiration for you…

You can interpret it whichever way you like… it can be the colours, the subject, the textures… whichever way the photo speaks to you, just show it through your art! And don’t forget to include a sentiment ;).

As usual, the challenge is sponsored by Raindrop Echo Designs for Whimsy Stamps Digital Collection. And this week we have another sponsor - Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.

As for me, the photo spoke to me with a voice of the sea…:)

This is a card for my F-I-L, it’s his birthday, soon. He lives in a seaside town, so I hope the theme will be close to his heart ;).

The background was created with paper blending technique using gesso. The papers used are K&Co, music sheet and old book pages.

The stamps I used are Crafty Individuals CI – 272. I also used one of the sentiment stamps to fit it in the background. And the fish net is errr... well, let's just say it used to house little choccies. Choccies are long gone (yum!), but the net was awaiting its moment of glory - et voilà! Oh, and I forgot to mention that the "ship's wheel" is...an ear ring - I got it from a charity shop some time ago ;)

When I was making this card, it reminded me of my past summer camps, once as a kid, then as a teacher ;). Funnily enough, I have recently been contacted by one of the girls I looked after about 8 years ago. And she asked me about a song we used to sing at the camp (have I ever mentioned I play guitar???), an old sea shanty. You can listen to the Polish version here and English original version here…;)

Awww, those were the times!

Well, I hope you can join us for this challenge and I can’t wait to hear your inspirational story! Don't forget to check what other DT girls have created. ;).

Lots of hugs…
