WOYWW & my new ONION craft room...

I'm joining WOYWW again!!! Yeeeyyy!!!! Well, I wanted to share a few piccies of my finished brand spankin' new craft room ;))

I could write an entire book about painting my room lol ;) so it's a bit difficult to fit it all in one post. First, you may remember, I had a TERRIBLE problem choosing the colour/s... When this beautiful moment finally arrived, after careful calculations of the coverage area required and with a winged heart I rushed to a DIY establishment to buy 2 pots of "mixed to order" paints. One colour, off white with a hint of creamy orange and the other peachy orange but with a delicate, shabby chic tone. Oh, how excited was I !!!!

After the first layer of each colour I quickly realised that a) the mixed colour had NOTHING to do with the colours from the tester pots and b) I forgot to calculate a million layers I needed for the paint to fully cover the previous darker colour!!!!! And so I ended up buying more paint...

My lack of patience resulted in additional pots being acquired in a different DIY establishment, and you know, different shop, different mixing staff = different colour results!!!! And what goes without saying, this resulted in additional layers needed to cover the previous layers... Do you remember the famous wisdom words from Shrek? Craft rooms are like ogres. Ogres are like onions. Onions have layers, ogres have layers.

Craft rooms have layers...

And don't even get me started on doing the edges!

My lovely room features 2 new pieces of furniture - a super functional chest of drawers and a real vintage chair, both treated with my new discovery - spray paint! The chair is a true antique piece, bought at an auction (and I mean proper auction, not ebay stuff!) with super real wood worm holes free of charge lol ;).

The new worktop enjoys unlimited (almost) amount of space and it looks super tidy now! That's because most of the stuff is still in bags and boxes and it will take me a while to rediscover my stash lol.

And here's another gem of mine, given a new life with a coat of spray paint. I bought it for almost next to nothing in a second hand shop, and now it stores my little brads ;)

I hope you've enjoyed this little tale of mine in a true estate agent's style lol ;). Beware! This craft room is not for sale though!

Big hugs

I'm totally green with envy here Joanna (a rather Shrek like colour tee hee!).
Your craft room looks absolutely fabulous and you're so lucky to have one as my stuff is all over the house due to the lack.
Hugs, Fliss xx

I bet that lovely space does not stay that clear for very long. I am sure you are bursting to get creating in there. It really looks great. Happy anniversary, and thank you so much for your visit and kind comments.

white needs grey underneath - and off white is very hard to discern without a contrast of pure white next to it,

but it looks lovely so why worry?

the worm hole chair works well with your chosen decor, and I'm sure the in person haggling was much more fun than the on line version.

I don't think any of us would sell our studios, be it a desk, a tray, a room, a cubby hole, or a bedroom, it would be a bit like selling our souls, don't you think?

happy 104,

dx

Cooeee, guess who's playing catch up (again).

Fantabulous craft room, and I'm not in the least bit envious; honest, not the tiniest little bit (and if you believe that....)

That chair looks rather familiar, although mine is a mixture of bright yellow and grubby grey. Maybe I should call it "Distressed Canary" or "Dusty Mustard" :)

I’m making a really big effort to get around everyone seeing as it’s a special week. Mind you it’s taking forever and I have a bit of a numb bum now so It’ll be back to my random visits next week I think. I just don’t know how some people manage it every week.

What a fab Oh Joanna, what a painting saga but it was well worth it in the end, your room looks beautiful. Bet it doesn’t stay looking that pristine for long though. Have fun in your new space.

Happy WOYWW 2nd Anniversary and …………….
Happy Crafting!

I was going to get a mixed paint for my room but thankfully found one off the shelf... had other problems though ...a special ceiling paint that covers old marks due to a leak ...it was like painting with latex and only went half as far as it should ...and a one coat cover up cupboard paint that took 3 coats to cover white and still can be scratched off ....grrrrr. Love your finished craft room ...it was worth the hassle ...fantastic chairs.

Joanna, guess I stayed up late, tried to comment on you inspired by a song heart card, but blogger hasn't timed it up yet. Love the new room though! Completely jealous, love the little brad treasure and the cupcakes on the wall as well as all the organized distress inks! Great to have met you through Sentimental Sundays!

Ależ piękny pokoik i tyle miejsca na rozłożenie się z pracą! A najbardziej podoba mi się ta szafeczka z szufladami na stemple drewniane i tusze, jakby była robiona na miarę :D
