Keep Calm and Carry On :)

First of all just wanted share that my term with Polka Doodles has now ended and I'd like to say a big thank you to Nikky and all the DT for this wonderful opportunity :). I loved sharing inspiration with this fabulous team!

Now onto my new fascination ;).

I've recently treated myself to some lovely Artistic Outpost stamps that I bought at Happy Daze shop. I am hoping to make a many more projects with them, especially with the 2012 Olympics and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee coming soon! But here's my first make ;).

"Keep calm and carry on" - I'm sure you've seen this famous quote and poster somewhere but do you actually know where it comes from? ;)

According to Wikipedia Keep Calm and Carry On was a propaganda poster produced by the British government at the beginning of the Second World War, intended to raise the morale of the British public in the event of invasion. Interestingly enough, it was very little known at the time :).

I've got to say - this message really appeals to me and the word CALM is my motto at the moment :).

The box was decoupaged with a Union Jack printed serviette. For the flowers I used Tim Holtz shabby chic papers.

To prime the box I first painted it with matt emulsion paint, which I also used for distressing the edges.

The tag was stamped and distressed with distress inks and the ribbon was coloured with Distress stains.

To give the box more of a vintage feel, I also lightly sprayed it with Gold cosmic shimmer mist and also treated the leaf edges for gold acrylic paint.

This box is now available in my Etsy shop so if you'd like to treat yourself to this little number, hop over to my listing here.

And guess what - it's almost the weekend! Yay! And if you haven't yet, make sure to enter my 2nd Blogaversary giveaway!

Big hugs
