Tackling Scarecrows and Finnabair Mixed Media Style

Hello Friends! It's so nice to see you here today! Thank you :)

Before I move onto my project for today... some of you might have seen or participated in a discussion on my Facebook wall about the recent change in the number of visits on my blog.

I've noticed a very sudden drop in your lovely visits and it almost broke my heart thinking that I might have done something that has discouraged you from visiting. This may well be the case (although I sincerely hope it's not... please do let me know if it is!) but it appears that other bloggers have experienced this decline, too :(. We've discovered that recently some new posts stopped showing in our blogger news feeds and the side bar blog rolls are also often out of date.

I wonder if you have noticed anything similar - please do share your thoughts. With this in mind I would again like to invite you to follow my blog via alternative ways, just so you don't miss any of my posts in the future. I find that the most reliable way is following by email and you can subscribe to my blog here. I usually post once, sometimes twice a week so your inbox should not get too 'clattered' with the email updates lol :). Alternatively you can follow my blog via Bloglovin' or on my Facebook page here.

OK, back to my project. Today I'm sharing an altered frame I made for Stampendous. You can view my full tutorial HERE.

I've recently got totally inspired by this phenomenal altered mirror my dear friend Terry shared on her blog. Please do check it out - I promise you will keep coming back for another look!

I decided that I just HAD to have a go. especially after having craved to try this kind of a mixed media play for ages. In case you haven't come across this wonderful artist Anna Dabrowska from Tworzysko Finnabair, you must definitely visit her blog. I've been drooling over Finn's art for a very long time and it was about time I had a little play myself :).

As for the inspiration behind the theme...:). I’ve always been fascinated by scarecrows. although when I was little I used be a little afraid of them, too. My grandparents once had a mahoosive scarecrow in their field and at the time it looked so real and magical to me. It had a proper coat, hat and trousers, it moved when the wind was blowing so there was nothing to tell me that it wasn't real…. even the straw face didn't alert me then . Funny how differently things look when you are a kid!

In my project I was trying to capture exactly this – the magical look of a scarecrow in a middle of a field bursting with crops, flowers, butterflies and a riot of colour. I also thought that Finnabair’s style would be the perfect way to recreate my idea of a countryside field full of colour and texture.

For my piece I used cling Friendly Scarecrow stamp from Lisa Hindsley collection and Fran-tage Green Glass Glitter, as well as buckets of gesso, spray inks and DODZ from the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

I hope you will find a moment to hop over to Stampendous blog to view my today's post and tutorial. Thank you again for visiting today and for all your lovely comments. Every single one of them is appreciated and received with a great joy.

Hope you have a fabulous week!

Big crafty hugs

Love the frame and your techniques! I'm thinking maybe a full shot of your project at the top of your post rather than a detail shot might draw bloggers to open up the full post. Not to worry......your work is superb!
