The Big Day is finally here - the Grand Finale of our Dream-pendous blog hop starts now! This week the Design Teams at Stampendous and Dreamweaver are playing together to create beautiful stamped and stenciled offerings. We've chosen the lovely Blossom Beauty to be our 'mascot' for the hop - and as a true lady she's been wearing different outfits and hairstyles throughout the week. The projects are superb - if you haven't seen them yet, they are definitely worth having a look! To see my first project of this hop, click here.
The offering I have for you today is one of those projects, where you have a million ideas in your head but you'll never know where they will end up :). My inspiration is an altered wooden fan with a lovely oriental theme.
The inspiration behind it was the photo below, which I stumbled upon and totally fell in love with. I wanted to recreate the eclectic Geisha look with a striking colour palette.
First I painted the fan with a turquoise DecoArt acrylic paint and after it dried I stenciled my background motif with a Pearl paint dabber (Ranger) using Surfboard stencil. Next I randomly stamped the flowers from the Blossom Beauty and coloured them with PITT markers. I also added some small stamped flowers (from the Asian Umbrella set) using a gold ink. Finally I swiped some Boss Gloss along the edge of the fan and heat embossed it with the Aged Gold embossing enamel.
I drew my Geisha's hair myself but you can choose an easier option - free hair style templates that you can download here.
As you can see I used the surfboard stencil for the make up as well :).
For my hair embellishments I fussy cut the umbrella and and the flower spray, coloured them in and added as shown.
My kimono is a combination of a (now) redundant top, a stamped fan and a lovely oriental looking applique I bought last year at a flea market in Ghent :).
To complete my design I added lots of flowers and other embellishments. Many 3D DODZ later, my project was finished!
No blog hop would be fun if there were no prizes. So of course - we have prizes, too! There will be three bundles for grabs - and the teaser picture is below. All you have to do is to comment on the posts shared this week as part of the Dream-pendous play. The more you comment, the bigger chance you have of winning!
Playing today:
