Hello everyone and welcome to my Friday's musings. I've got some great news for you - it's almost the weekend! Yay!
OK, maybe not so much of a 'news' item but still exciting, right? :) Today I'd like to share something a bit different from my usual offerings.
You might recall this post where I shared my new living room decor and the 'new' sofa. Well, today I'd like to show you a couple of projects I completed for our living room.
I shall start with the new coffee table, proudly presented by our furry baby Kropek!
This coffee table has received a full shebang make-over treatment. I painted it with DecoArt Americana Multi-Surface Satin paints which I bought at the Stamp Attic.
Let me tell you, these paints are AMAZING, fantastic and just super great! I love the satin finish, the consistency and their ability to blend. And they also lend themselves beautifully to the good old distressing trick, which I loooove! You can use these paints on any surface, indoors or outdoors, no priming or sanding needed - which is excellent for us busy crafters. The only (BIG) letdown is the size of the bottles - they only come in small 60 ml bottles which can be a bit of a pain/t if you're doing a big project. But hey - I still managed!

We bought this pre-loved table on Ebay and here are a couple of shots from the ad to show you the 'before' look:
I added various mouldings all around which I highlighted with some gold Rub N Buff.
Now, spending two weeks on (lovingly) decorating the sides wasn't enough for me so I decided to add some stenciling to the top as well...(I bought the stencil from HERE) And rather than using just one colour of paint I went ahead with a 3-tone ombre look. That kept me busy in the evenings for another week :).
I also had this dream of having a rich yellow round cushion for the sofa and I spent ages looking for one on Internet. Sadly without success so it was only natural that I would make one myself. If you know me you'll know that I'm not a sewer. I don't normally use my machine to stitch anything else than paper... But once the idea popped into my head, I just couldn't get rid of that (Great British Sewing) Bee from my bonnet lol.
My cushion cover is a combination of two tutorials which you can find here and here.
I quite like my cushion cover, not bad for the first attempt at some 'grown up' sewing :). There may be more sewing projects appearing here in the future as I have just started a 10 week long sewing course.

The table is beautiful Joanna...as is Kropek ! I have a sewing box on legs (that I keep my Frantage in..not thread!) which I've been intending to revamp for over a year now...thanks for the inspiration to give it a go...can I just ask if you used a stencil for the damask design and if so did you use the same paint?
...the cushion is also beautiful, fantastic for your first sewing project. ..as Carol says you're a natural !! xxx

I would NEVER have known that table had a former life without the picture, assuming it had been created that way. Totally flabbergasted by this transformation. And well done you on that super cushion. You didn't go for the easy square version for your first attempt did you?! Enjoy the sewing course. The results will be exceptional if this is anything to go by. Jenny x
