Back At Home, Exploding Wedding Box And a Tutorial

Hello Friends ('old' and new ones - thank you for following! x). Apologies for being quiet again but I hope to catch up on my blogging soon. I've now had my op and it all went well. Post-op was a bit tricky so I had to stay in hospital a tad longer than expected. The recovery has also been taking longer than expected...sheeesh. But I am getting there! Yay!

My biggest heartfelt thanks to everyone who's sent beautiful cards and lovely supportive messages by email, text and on Facebook. I got some beautiful flowers delivered, too! You guys are true gems - thank you again!

In all the hospital kerfuffle I didn't get a chance to share this wedding gift project which was recently commissioned by my friend. My instructions were that the Bride loved shabby chic, lace and hearts. Oh and that the card should have a matching box. I think I met all the requirements :).

I frequently come across beautiful exploding boxes in blogland but somehow I’d never thought of making one myself. Perhaps I mistakenly assumed it was really difficult – but it isn’t at all! If you’ve never tried it I hope this project will inspire you to have a go.

I made a full tutorial for this project which I shared last week on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L's blog. I would be delighted if you found a moment to view it HERE and let me know what you think :). The inspiration for the 3D birdcage came from this beautiful project from Dora which you can see here.

Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L supplies I used:

E-Z Dots® Mini Permanent, Crafty Foam Tape – White, Thin 3D Foam Squares – Mix White, Mounting Squares – White, DODZ™ – 3D, Creative Photo Corners – Black, 3D Foam Squares – Black, DODZ™ - Small, E-Z Runner® Permanent Strips, 3D Foam Hearts and 3D Foam Leaves.

Can you see little eggs hidden in the nest?

Other supplies I used:

Stamps – Married Monograms & Fairy Tale Wedding (Stampendous); Creative Stamping magazine – The Celebrations Collection

Papers – DCVW Mariposa collection; Bazzill Basics Paper Heritage collection

Embellishments: Shabby White Embossing EnamelTaupe Color Fragments and Cinnamon Micro Glitter (Stampendous); lace, flowers, Tim Holtz/Sizzix Caged Bird die; Spellbinders Foliage die, brads, grunge paper, decorative flower mist.

Serdecznie zapraszam!

I hope you enjoyed peeking inside this exploding box. Thank you so much for stopping by and for all your lovely comments! :).
Big crafty hugs

Such a special creation. I love the colour palette and as for that cage - just might have to give that design idea a go! Superb.
I'm glad to hear you are on the road to recovery. Take it steady - these things tend to hit you a few weeks later and unexpectedly, but I'm sure you're being well looked after. Hope you are feeling much better very soon. Jenny x
