Soulful Journaling In Autumnal Shades

November is always quite an emotional month for me, full of reflection and sadness, starting with All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day and throughout the rest of the month. I grew up in a tradition, as well as religion, where November is spent remembering the people who were so special in our lives but who are no longer with us... This is when I allow myself to dwell on how fragile and short life can be.

But November also brings me hope. Hope, that there is 'life after life'. That there's place where I will meet my loved ones once again.

This is a little journal page in autumnal colours of November about hope's feathers dancing in the wind like falling leaves...

Supplies:From Stampendous:

Other supplies
TCW Mini Cubist stencil, DecoArt Americana acrylic paints (Bright Yellow, Bright Orange) Imagine Crafts StazOn Mini St. Valentine and Emerald City inks, Range Ink Distress Inks Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmelade, Prima Marketing Color Bloom Soft Teal Spray Mist

Instructions: 1. Create a background using acrylic paints, CP475 Creative Palette Rectangles and MPW811 Mixed Media White Paper.
2. Press paper partially onto the Creative Palette leaving some spaces white.
3. Lay the stencil onto the Creative Palette and cover with the paper again, pressing gently to transfer the paint into the gaps.
4. Lift the stencil off the CP. Lay it on the page with the painty side down. Rub down to transfer the paint onto the paper.
5. Allow to dry.
6. Fill in any white spaces with distress inks.
7. Stamp different feather images around the page. Stamp the sentiment in the middle.
8. Add simple borders by swiping an edge of a plastic loyalty card with Emerald City ink and dragging parallel lines along the edges.
9. Finish the page with random Soft Teal ink splatters.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Home Sweet Home Journal Page

Hello my lovelies! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I'm back today to share this cheerful journal page. I've been really busy lately sorting different things for my home. As a result I've kind of lost a bit of mojo and momentum for my normal 'day-to-day' crafting. So I thought I would try some messy paint play in my art journal. And since my home is so much on my mind at the moment I thought I might as well use it as a subject of my page :).

The details on how I made this page are shared today on Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L's blog and you can fond my post here.

Supplies:

Also: E-Z Stars® Refillable Dispenser, Blue Pigment Powder, Gold Pigment Powder (Donna Salazar with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®
Other supplies:
Bloom stencil - PaperArtsy

Summer On My Mind - with Stampendous and Dreamweaver

Hello everyone and welcome to the Stampendous and Dreamweaver Blog Play - Day 4. Tomorrow is the big finale so do make sure to pop back! This week we've been dreaming of stencils and stamps - a fabulous combination, if you ask me!

My biggest highlight of the week is the set we chose to play with - the Blossom Beauty stamps and the matching Cutting Die set. I absolutely love this new collection and the matching dies, they make crafting so much quicker and so much more enjoyable! We also have some fun free hair templates for your Blossom Beauty that you can download here. Both teams have really rocked this set so do check out all the amazing projects shared this week.

Oh and of course - there are prizes, too! There will be three bundles for grabs - and the teaser picture is below. All you have to do is to comment on the posts shared this week as part of the Dream-pendous play. The more you comment, the bigger chance you have of winning!

For my inspiration today I am sharing a calendar journal page. Now, before you ask why it's an August one...

At the beginning of the year I made a resolution (one of many!) to finish all projects I started in the past and never completed. Many moons ago I began creating a calendar where I could keep track of all the birthdays and anniversaries I need to remember about. The inspiration behind it was the 'challenge' started by Kate Crane from The Kathryn Wheel. So far I've done April, JuneJuly and October so I only have a few months left to do...LOL. I chose to make the August page - I suppose I already have summer on my mind!

The background for my page was created with the DecoArt Americana acrylic paints smooshed around on the Creative Palette Monoprinting Plate. To add depth I layered lots of stamping with Mish Mesh, Grunge and Wired stamp plates - these are perfect for mixed media backgrounds.

I also fussy cut some lovely images from a napkin and added them to the page. To add texture the images were covered with Translucent Embossing Paste through sequin waste and sprinkled with a touch of Crystal Micro Glitter.

Next I sponged lovely neon inks all over the page through the Summer stencil. Then I was ready to stamp my Blossom Beauty. I coloured her with PITT pens  and aquarell pencils. I also gave her a little hat which I made using the Hydrangea Garden stamp and the Cutting Die set.

For the August banner I used some old paint swatch cards stamped with the Vintage Lowercase stamps and pins from the Smash Notes clear set.

The days were punched from Crafty Individual papers.

Additional supplies I used:
Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L - Mounting SquaresMyStik® Permanent Strips, Adhesive Sheets
Tsukineko (Imagine Crafts) - Jet Black and Blue Hawaii StazOn Minis, Memento Grape Jelly, Radiant Neons - Electric Blue, Purple and Pink
Staedtler - ergosoft aquarell pencils
Faber- Castell - India Ink PITT Artist Pens

I hope you enjoyed my offering today. There is still more inspiration today for your viewing pleasure so make sure to check out the following:

Peruvian Lilies, Stampendous and FSC #47 - all in My Garden Journal

Re-edited - yay! My garden journal is one of the Spotlights at City Crafter Challenge Blog!

Happy (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day to all my crafty friends! I hope I'll get a chance to celebrate it with some crafting but first I'd like to share what I have been up to this week.

Before I tell you about my new project, here's heads up that a new Fashionable Stamping Challenge is officially open! And the theme this fortnight could not be better as this time Anything goes! All the Fashionettes have prepared a real eye candy inspiration for you so be sure to check all the beautiful samples.

Those who know me personally would certify that my garden has always been a kind of a project that gets put off forever... But not this year! We've finally got our new patio sorted and we're now ready to plan & plant the borders. Yay! It only took us 6 years to gear up for it so not too long really lol :).

No surprises then that I wanted to seize the opportunity to 'document' how our garden grows. That's why I started my very own garden journal, where I can clip plant labels, photos and play with creative journaling at the same time.

In keeping with the 'nature friendly theme' I've decided to up-cycle an old diary for that purpose. To kick start my creative gardening adventure I decorated the cover using my old time fave technique - decoupaging with napkins. This technique was perfect for this project as my cover was quite squishy and leather like, so covering it with paper would not be as successful.

For my project I used some really gorgeous Stampendous stamps from the new April release. I had a real trouble deciding which ones to choose as this release is full of real gems. But I finally decided on the Jumbo Cling Peruvian Lily set which I stamped onto the front cover with clear embossing ink. Then I heat embossed them with Detail Gold Embossing Powder from Stampendous.

To add dimension to my flowers I stamped the lilies again onto white card, heat embossed them with Black Detail Powder and cut them out. All my colouring was done with Inktense pencils.

Then I layered all my embellishments and lace. I also added fabric flowers from Prima and wooden embellishments from Crafty Emblies, which altered with Shabby Blue and Shabby Pink embossing enamels. To do that you simply swipe the Boss Gloss over, sprinkle the powders, tap off the excess and heat with the heat gun.

I also added one of my shabby enamelled flowers. To adhere my embellishments I used Beacon's 3in1 Advanced Craft Glue.

I decorate the flower centres with gems, Champagne and Fuchsia crushed glass glitter, sprinkled over Beacon's 3in1 adhesive.

Now, my garden journal could not be left without a proper country cottage bunting :). So I stamped in black the word 'garden' onto white vellum with Stampendous Big Top Type clear stamps and cut out the flags. Then I stamped the word 'journal' directly onto the journal cover with Vintage Lowercase clear stamps.

To finish my cover I added final touches with embossing the edges with Shabby Blue enamel.

I've also prepared a full step-by-step tutorial on this project which you will soon be able to see on Stampendous blog. In case you're worried you might miss it, just subscribe to the updates here :).

Over to you now - share your lovely stamped projects with us here.

Thank you so much for visiting today and for your lovely comments. Have a fabulous crafty weekend!

Big hugs

Fashionable Journaling with Jumbo Daisies - FSC #45 and a quick tutorial

Guess what? The sun is finally shining and who knows, maybe Spring is finally on its way? But if Mother Nature is still unsure whether it's time then I hope this project will make it absolutely clear - yes, it IS time! LOL.

And it's also time for another Fashionable Stamping Challenge :). This fortnight we are challenging ourselves and you lovely stampers with  (Art) Journaling! But we could not let this challenge go without some inspiration from a professional Art Journaling artist so we have a very special guest playing with us - the one and only - Kate Crane from The Kathryn Wheel. How exciting is that?

I am a big fan of Kate's art and I love her Art Journaling DVDs. So what a better way to join this challenge than with a project inspired by Kate's all year long challenge of journalled calendars - here you can link up your April pages.

For almost a year now I've been trying to make a journalled calendar to keep track of all important dates, anniversaries, birthdays etc. But so far I only made June, July and October ha ha ha! It will probably be another year before I finish it (and that's quite optimistic). But since my dear friend Ruby recently told me to get on with the calendar, I decided to....errr...get on with it! :).

Without further ado, here's my April page.

For my April page I reused parts from an old calendar. I kept it because it was so pretty and I knew that one day I would find another use for it.

My background was created with acrylic paints, Inktense pencils, Colour Wash, Glimmer Mist and Cosmic Shimmer Mist sprays. I used a brickwork stencil to add gessoed texture and to add some colour highlights.

Those fabulous flowers are stamped with Stampendous Jumbo Daisy with a free template.

And I thought I would share a quick tutorial how to use the free templates from the new Stampendous Jumbo flower stamps.

I hope you can join us for this challenge, there is fabulous prize waiting for one lucky stamper - $20 voucher to spend at Flonz Craft store. Be sure to check out all the gorgeous Journalled projects my talented DT Sisters have created - and of course the magical pages created by our lovely Guest!

Have a fabulous week!

Big hugs

July calendar page...

Re-edited: Wooo hooo!!! I am a Spotlight Artist at City Crafter Challenge Blog ;))))

I can't believe it's almost the middle of August!!! Where did all this time go???? I have just finished the July page of my calendar... At this rate I will never be able to catch up with the rest of the months before the end of this year.... or century for that matter! lol ;)

The days have not been filled in yet as I am going to use it as a birthday diary. Throughout my life I have NEVER forgotten anyone's birthday, anniversary... etc. I mean family and close friends, not everyone in the entire world, in case you wonder lol! Until recently... with all the goings on in my life, those horrible turbulences and stuff... I forgotten about my brother's and my SIL's birthdays!!! How awful is that???

I thought it was time for radical measures so I decided to make a calendar where I will be keeping track of all those important dates and make my cards ahead of time (wishful thinking, me thinks!) ;-D.

But before my lovely pages get filled in, I will first need to do some researching who, what & when! D'you know what I mean?!

The page was inspired by the fantastic art journalling DVD by Kate. The background was created with acrylic paints and the day tiles were stamped and coloured with distress inks. Love the colours! Are they bright, cheerful and summery or what??? lol ;p.

The stamps I used are Doodle bloom by Tia Bennett and I did A LOT of lovely doodling myself, too! Hmmmm! ;)

The flowers were painted with my new fascination - cosmic shimmer watercolour paints. I just fell in love with them!!! Not sure if the picture fully reflects the lovely glimmering effect, very subtle yet quite defined! Love this stuff!!!!

Well, that's all from me for now. I hope you are all well, my Friends. In case you're not - hey, it's (almost) weekend (depending on your time zone lol)!!!

Hugs xxx
